Karshenboim教授是俄罗斯CODATA基本常数工作组主席,国际CODATA基本常数任务组成员,国际粒子数据组的顾问等。其研究兴趣广泛:
1. Adjustment and determination of fundamental constants. While most of the work on the adjustment is within the CODATA Task group on fundamental constants, my original results have contributed to determination of atomic fundamental constants, such as the Rydberg constant Ry, the proton charge radius Rp, the fine structure constant , the electron-to-proton mass ratio, the proton-to-electron magnetic-moment ratio, the muon-to-electron mass ratio, muon-to-proton magnetic-moment ratio etc.
2. Quantum electrodynamics, relativistic and nuclear-structure effects in atomic physics. I have been working on precision theory of the energy levels of hydrogen, deuterium, helium ions, muonic hydrogen, deuterium and helium ions, poistronium, and muonium; of the decay rates of poistronium and positronium ion; of the bound g factor in hydrogen, muonium and hydrogen-like ions. Those calculations allow us to determine related fundamental constants as well to check bound state QED.
3. Search for a possible variation of constants. I am interested in time and space variations of fundamental constants, mostly in their laboratory searches, closely working with experimentalists.
4. Quantum units. Being an expert of CCU and member of the CODATA TGFC I am also working on physical and practical aspects of the introduction of quantum units.
5. I am also working on various applications of fundamental constants and precision physics to constrain new physics, equivalent principle etc。
