报告题目

The Beginning of Gravitational Wave Astronomy

报告内容摘要

For the first  part of this talk, I will give a brief overview of the recent LIGO  discoveries: GW150914 and GW151226—gravitational wave signals from binary  black hole coalescences. The focus is on the instruments and techniques that  enable these discoveries, and also on the science that we have learned. For  the second part, I will talk about   both near-term and long-term future of ground-based gravitational-wave  detectors, particular on the main sources of noise that limit the detector  sensitivity and how we reduce the noise to allow for exciting  gravitational-wave astronomy.
