Tony Wynohrad is a thirteen year veteran of using and manufacturing components for ultra-high vacuum systems in high energy physics, scientific instrumentation and medical/industrial processes. Tony has been a director at Gamma Vacuum since 2003 where he is responsible for sales, marketing, manufacturing, and continuous development of ion pump technology. He is heavily involved in research and development as well as information technology systems.

He will present the historical timeline of the ion pump and why their continued use as a core UHV component is critical to a wide variety of high energy physics and instrumentation applications. Basic compatibility and characteristics of the ion pump will be reviewed. Operational and specification information will be discussed for the proper comparison and selection of options for appropriate applications. General manufacturing techniques and recent changes to the ion pump will be summarized including advances in controller technologies and high voltage safety.
