High power all fiber ultralow intensity   noise laser for Advanced VIRGO

摘  要

High-power low-noise single-mode single-frequency   lasers are in great demand for interferometric metrology, LIDAR, and atom/molecular optical   physics. Robust, compact   all-fiber lasers represent one of the most promising technologies to replace   the current laser sources in use based on injection-locked ring resonators or   multi-stage solid-state amplifiers. Here, a linearly-polarized high-power   ultra-low noise all-fiber laser is demonstrated at a power level of 100 W.   Special care has been taken in the study of relative intensity noise (RIN)   and its reduction. Using an optimized servo actuator to directly control the   driving current of the pump laser diode (LD), we obtain a large feedback   bandwidth of up to 1.3 MHz. The close to shot-noise limit performance is achieved with a RIN of   -160 dBc/Hz between 3 kHz and 20 kHz.

简  介

Dr. Zhao Jian graduated from Wuhan   University of technology in 2008. He obtained his master degree from Laser   engineering laboratory of ShenZhen University in 2011. Later he got his phD diploma   from the state key laboratory of precision spectroscopy in 2015. Since   December 2015, he received the FFCSA (La Fondation Franco-Chinoise pour la Science et ses Applications) fund to study in IOGS-CNRS-Bordeaux   University France under the supervion of Prof. Giorgio Santarelli. His research interest includes fiber optical gyroscope, the   generation of high-power continuous /ultrashort pulse laser, fiber frequency   comb, and the front-end optical source for gravitational-wave   detection.
